Title of bill
An act to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to dock, wharf, mooring and boat fees imposed by the Lake George park commission
Purpose
To increase the fees imposed by the Lake George park commission for the docks, wharfs, moorings and boats.
Summary of provisions
Section 1 amends subdivision 2 of section 43-0125 of the environmental conservation law, as amended by section 1 of part B of chapter 81 of the laws of 2002.
Section 2 establishes the effective date.
Justification
This bill would authorize the Lake George Park Commission to establish an increase in fees for docks, wharves, moorings, and boats within the Lake George Park. Fees have not been increased in 14 years and equate to an increase of $4.50 up to $12.50 for a boat registration and residential dock registrations will increase $12.50 per year. Fees are used to maintain programs to protect and improve Lake George. Commission programs include invasive species management and prevention, public safety and water quality protection. This fee increase is supported by a wide array of local municipalities, the Lake George Association, the Fund for Lake George and several other groups.
