Title of bill
An act to amend chapter 405 of the laws of 2011, relating to authorizing the lease of lands located at the state university of New York at Purchase, in relation to extending the authorization for the length of leased land
Summary of specific provisions
This bill would amend Chapter 405 of the Laws of 2011 for the development of a senior learning community (SLC).
Section 1. Section 2 of Chapter 405 of the Laws of 2011 is amended by changing the lease term from "forty" to "seventy-five" years.
Section 2. Section 13 of Chapter 405 of the Laws of 2011 is amended to bring the Chapter into conformance with the current procurement practices of the State University of New York.
Justification
The purpose of the Senior Learning Community (SLC) is to integrate seniors with an interest in the arts and education with students and faculty to enhance the overall learning experience for all involved, specifically the students. Any and all proceeds from this lease are directed to fund student financial aid for students who are eligible for tuition assistance program (TAP) or supplemental tuition assistance, as well as funding for full-time faculty. By making the changes above, the project will attract better financing options and have lower administrative costs.
