Title of bill

An act to amend the economic development law, in relation to the publication of information regarding awards of state contracts

Purpose or general idea of bill

The purpose of this bill is to publish and announce agencies that have entered into a contract

Summary of specific provisions

Section 1 would authorize the commissioner to publish and announce that an agency has entered into a contract in the procurement opportunities newsletter.

Section 2 would authorize an agency that enters into a contract shall submit an announcement of the intended contract for inclusion in the procurement opportunities newsletter.

Justification

Currently, there is no mechanism in place once the initial contract is announced to know when an agency has entered into a contract. By placing the announcement in the procurement newsletter it would allow MWBEs to know who to contact in order to bid as sub-contractors.

Prior legislative history

This is new legislation.

Fiscal implications

None

Effective date

This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall have become law; provided, however, that effective immediately, the commissioner of economic development, or his or her delegate, shall promulgate rules and regulations and take all other necessary actions to implement the provisions of this act on or before such effective date.
