Title of bill
An act to grant Danielle Galasso a retroactive membership date in the New York state and local employees' retirement system
Purpose
This legislation would grant Danielle Galasso a retroactive membership date in the New York State and Local Employees' Retirement System.
Summary of provisions
Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, this legislation would grant Danielle Galasso, an employee of the Town of Oyster Bay, a retroactive membership date in the NY State and Local Retirement System of July 10, 2003.
Justification
Danielle Galasso, an employee with the Town of Oyster Bay and a member of the New York State and local retirement system, was employed by the Town of Oyster Bay in 2003 but failed to become a member of the retirement system at that time.
The failure to join the system was not due to her own negligence and this legislation addresses this issue by granting Ms. Galasso Tier IV status and deems her to have joined the system on July 10, 2003.
Legislative history
Same as S.5419 of 2011/12
Fiscal implications
According to a fiscal note prepared by the Actuary of the New York State and Local Retirement System, there will be an one time past service cost to the town of Oyster Bay of $350. Since the amount of this member's service credit is negligible, there will be no past service cost.
Effective date
This act shall take effect immediately.
