Title of bill
An act to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to the issuance of deer management permits for certain disabled veterans
Purpose
This bill will allow disabled veterans to only have to show proof of disability one time and for every year thereafter the proof shall consists of an expired permit.
Summary of provisions
Section 1: Paragraph b of subdivision 1 of section 11-0913 of the environmental conservation law is amended to provide that in the issuance of deer management licenses a disabled veteran will only have to provide proof of service related disability one time and every year thereafter the proof shall consist of an expired permit.
Justification
The State of New York currently gives preference to disabled veterans having 4096 or greater disability when issuing deer management permits. Currently, disabled veterans seeking this permit are required to submit proof of their disability every year. This legislation would change this by allowing disabled veterans to provide proof of service related disability one time and every year thereafter the proof shall consist of an expired permit.
