What's happening
This bill extends the residential care off-site facility demonstration project until June 30, 2021.
Why it matters
Extending the demonstration project allows more time to collect data and assess the effectiveness of residential care provided in off-site facilities. , which could influence long-term policy decisions on how care is delivered for vulnerable populations.
Providers and residents benefit from regulatory stability and continuity of care. , as the extension ensures that ongoing services and investments in these off-site facilities are not disrupted by an abrupt program end.
The extension signals ongoing state interest in alternative models of residential care. , potentially paving the way for future expansion or permanent adoption of innovative practices if the demonstration yields positive results.
