What's happening
This bill requires the Department of Motor Vehicles to conduct and submit a report on the economic impact of ATV use in New York.
Why it matters
Comprehensive economic data on ATV use. By mandating a detailed report, the bill seeks to quantify not just participation numbers but also spending patterns, job creation, and tax revenue linked to ATV activities—crucial for understanding the broader economic significance of this recreation sector.
Policy and investment guidance. The findings, including legislative recommendations from the DMV commissioner, could directly influence future laws, regulations, or public investments to optimize or address the economic impact of ATV use statewide.
Stakeholder engagement and transparency. The collaboration between multiple state agencies and the formal submission of the report to key legislative committees ensures a broad, multi-faceted perspective and could make the findings more actionable and visible to policymakers and the public.
