What's happening
This bill requires the state budget to include a detailed breakdown of education funding for each individual school district.
Why it matters
Increases transparency and accountability. By requiring a line-by-line breakdown of education funding for each school district, the public, lawmakers, and advocacy groups can more easily see how state money is distributed, helping to ensure funds are allocated fairly and as intended.
Empowers local stakeholders. School boards, parents, and community members will have clearer information about what their district is receiving, making it easier for them to advocate for their needs or question disparities.
Supports data-driven policy decisions. Policymakers and researchers gain access to granular funding data, enabling more precise analysis of funding equity, identification of trends, and evaluation of the effectiveness of state education funding policies.
