What's happening

This bill prohibits motor vehicle dealers from advertising lease specials limited to only a few in-stock vehicles meeting advertised specifications.

Why it matters

  1. Aims to increase transparency and fairness in automotive lease advertising. dealers will be required to honor advertised lease deals for all in-stock vehicles that meet the ad’s specifications, not just for a select few.

  2. Helps consumers avoid bait-and-switch tactics. by ensuring that advertised deals are broadly available, shoppers are less likely to be lured to dealerships by offers that only apply to a very limited inventory.

  3. May lead to broader availability of promotional deals. dealerships will need to ensure they have enough qualifying vehicles to support their advertised specials, potentially improving consumer access to competitive lease terms.
