What's happening
This bill repeals subdivision 3 of section 727 of the real property tax law, affecting property assessment review petitions.
Why it matters
Repealing subdivision 3 of section 727 could alter how long property assessment reductions remain in effect. , potentially allowing for more frequent reassessment challenges or changes to property tax bills, depending on what subdivision 3 provided.
This change may impact both property owners and municipalities. owners could have new opportunities to contest their property taxes, while local governments might see changes in property tax revenue stability and administrative workload.
Immediate effect means any ongoing or future property assessment review cases will be subject to the new rules. , so property owners and legal professionals should quickly review how this affects their rights and obligations.
