What's happening
This bill allows voters who change their party enrollment by certain deadlines to vote in the next primary, general, or special election.
Why it matters
Expands voter participation by allowing people who change their party enrollment by specified deadlines to vote in upcoming elections, potentially increasing engagement in the primary process and beyond.
Ensures that timely party enrollment changes sent by mail or delivered in person are recognized, making it easier for voters to update their party affiliation and have a say in candidate selection.
Standardizes and clarifies the deadlines for party enrollment changes, reducing confusion and the likelihood of voters being disenfranchised due to administrative timing issues.
Addresses both state and federal voter registration forms, ensuring consistency and accessibility for people using different official channels to update their party enrollment.
