What's happening
This bill allows farm operations to place advertising and directional signs near certain state highways, provided they promote the farm's activities.
Why it matters
Supports local agriculture and agritourism. by making it easier for farms to attract visitors and customers with roadside advertising, potentially boosting farm revenue and community engagement.
Limits advertising to authentic farm-related activities. , ensuring that only services or products genuinely connected to the farm operation or its woodlands can be promoted, which helps maintain rural character and prevents unrelated commercial signage.
Specifically benefits farms adjacent to non-controlled access state highways. , meaning those not limited to high-speed, limited-entry traffic, so smaller farms near traditional roads stand to gain the most visibility.
Could impact local traffic and aesthetics. , as increased signage may draw more visitors to farms and alter the visual landscape along certain state highways, prompting potential debates over signage quantity and design.
