What's happening

This bill increases civil service exam credits for veterans and disabled veterans honorably discharged on or after January 1, 2017.

Why it matters

  1. Enhances job prospects for recent veterans. By increasing exam credits, veterans discharged on or after January 1, 2017, gain a more significant advantage in securing civil service jobs and promotions, directly impacting their post-service employment opportunities.

  2. Prioritizes support for disabled veterans. The bill gives even higher additional credits to disabled veterans, recognizing their sacrifices and aiming to ease their transition into the workforce by making it easier for them to compete for public sector roles.

  3. Targets the newest generation of veterans. By focusing on those honorably discharged since 2017, the bill responds to the most recent waves of military service, ensuring that benefits keep pace with contemporary veteran populations and their needs.
