What's happening

Why it matters

  2. Gives the task force significant investigative authority. , including the ability to hold public hearings and issue subpoenas, meaning it could uncover and resolve complex or previously overlooked jurisdictional problems.

  3. Ensures broad representation and local input. by requiring appointments from multiple political leaders and local officials (including both counties and state police), increasing the likelihood that different perspectives and interests will be considered in recommendations.

  4. Mandates a public report and possible legislative proposals by a set deadline. , which could lead to actionable changes in state or local law, potentially improving government efficiency and reducing disputes for affected communities.
