What's happening
This bill prohibits former Rochester city school board members from being employed by the district for two years after their service.
Why it matters
Aims to prevent conflicts of interest. by creating a two-year "cooling-off" period before former Rochester school board members can be employed by the district, reducing the risk of board members making decisions that could benefit their own future employment.
Could impact recruitment and retention. for both board membership and district jobs, as individuals may be deterred from serving on the board if it limits their future job opportunities within the school system.
Targets only the Rochester City School District. , making it a local solution to concerns about revolving-door employment practices, rather than a statewide policy for all school boards.
Intended to bolster public trust. in school governance by ensuring a clear separation between the oversight role of board members and operational employment within the district.
