What's happening
This bill changes the required grade for a specific immunization booster from sixth to seventh grade, effective immediately.
Why it matters
Delaying the booster immunization requirement to seventh grade may give families and schools more time to prepare for compliance. , potentially reducing missed school days due to immunization scheduling conflicts.
Changing the effective date to September 2017 aligns the law with the academic calendar. , avoiding confusion for students who recently entered sixth grade and who would have otherwise been subject to the previous requirement.
This adjustment could impact public health monitoring and record-keeping. , as schools and healthcare providers will need to update their protocols and tracking systems to reflect the new timing for booster shots.
