What's happening
This bill requires agencies to inform potential adoptive parents about state-funded benefits for foster children that may expire after adoption.
Why it matters
Ensures transparency for adoptive parents. By requiring agencies to disclose which benefits or services end with adoption, the law helps parents make better-informed decisions and plan for the child’s future needs.
Promotes continuity of care for children. Adoptive families will receive guidance on how to access expired services through community or private sources, reducing gaps in support that could negatively impact a child’s well-being.
Public access to information. The requirement that this information be posted on the Office of Children and Family Services’ website increases accountability and empowers all interested parties—not just those currently in the adoption process—with vital knowledge.
