Why it matters

Specifies the role of the commissioner of corrections and community supervision. in forwarding certified vouchers to the state comptroller, streamlining the payment process for counties.
Updates outdated legal language. (e.g., replacing “statute” with “section” and adding gender-neutral pronouns), which helps make the law more precise and relevant to current administrative structures.
Could help counties receive reimbursement more efficiently. by clearly defining the process and responsible officials, which may impact local budgets and how quickly they recoup costs from the state.
