What's happening
This bill requires managed care providers to cover home delivery of prescription drugs by any network retail pharmacy, not just mail-order services.
Why it matters
Expands patient choice and convenience. by allowing home delivery of prescriptions from any in-network retail pharmacy, not just mail-order options, which can be important for people who prefer or need to use local pharmacies.
Could improve medication adherence. for patients who face barriers to accessing mail-order services or who rely on personal relationships and support from their neighborhood pharmacists.
May foster competition among pharmacies. by letting retail pharmacies offer home delivery, potentially leading to better service or prices for consumers.
Addresses equity concerns. by ensuring individuals without easy access to mail-order services (such as those without stable mailing addresses, digital access, or flexible schedules) can still benefit from home delivery through familiar, local pharmacies.

A managed care provider that provides coverage for prescription drugs shall also provide coverage for home delivery of any covered prescription drug by any non-mail-order retail pharmacy in the managed care provider network.
