What's happening

This bill requires that the thirty-foot parking restriction near stop signs on state highways be clearly posted beneath the signs.

Why it matters

  1. Reduces ambiguity and unintentional violations. By requiring the 30-foot parking restriction to be clearly posted under stop signs on state highways, drivers will have immediate, visible reminders, which could prevent accidental tickets and confusion—especially for out-of-town or infrequent drivers.

  2. Improves fairness and transparency in enforcement. Clear signage means drivers are less likely to be cited for violating a rule they didn’t know about, potentially reducing disputes and appeals related to parking tickets near stop signs.

  3. Promotes safer intersections. Enhanced awareness of parking restrictions near stop signs may improve sightlines for drivers and pedestrians, reducing the likelihood of accidents caused by vehicles parked too close to intersections.
