What's happening
This bill extends authorization for Chautauqua County to impose additional sales and use taxes through November 30, 2019.
Why it matters
Continued revenue for county services. By extending the authorization for additional sales and use taxes, the bill ensures Chautauqua County can maintain funding for essential services such as Medicaid, local road and bridge work, and other mandated expenses without interruption.
Preserves municipal support formulas. The bill keeps in place the specific formulas that allocate portions of the additional tax revenue directly to cities, towns, and villages based on population, helping local governments plan their budgets and maintain local services.
Supports infrastructure and fiscal stability. The continued collection of these taxes provides dedicated funds for capital projects, debt repayment, and reserve funds for bonded indebtedness, contributing to the county’s long-term financial health and infrastructure improvement efforts.
