What's happening

This bill expands fire training reporting requirements, mandating more detailed data and public posting on the state website each year.

Why it matters

  1. Increases transparency and accountability. by requiring the annual fire training report to break down data not just by county, but also by individual firefighter, including total hours allocated and types of training received.

  2. Enables public and departmental scrutiny. by mandating the online posting of the full training report, making it accessible on the state’s official website for anyone to review.

  3. Supports safety and preparedness. by requiring identification of firefighters qualified for interior firefighting—vital information for emergency planning and resource allocation.

  4. May influence funding and policy decisions. by providing detailed, standardized data on unmet training needs and actual training delivered, potentially highlighting gaps or disparities across departments and regions.
