What's happening
This bill ensures medical assistance payments for clinic services also cover persons with traumatic brain injury, not just developmental disabilities.
Why it matters
Expands access to essential healthcare services. for people with traumatic brain injury (TBI), ensuring they receive the same clinic service coverage as those with developmental disabilities—potentially improving their health outcomes and quality of life.
Addresses potential gaps in insurance coverage. for TBI patients who are Medicare Part B beneficiaries, meaning state Medicaid will cover clinic service costs not paid by Medicare, reducing financial burdens for individuals and families.
Could lead to greater demand for specialized clinic services. as more TBI patients become eligible for reimbursement, incentivizing clinics to expand or enhance offerings tailored to this group’s unique needs.
