What's happening

This resolution honors Mark O'Brien, LCSW-R, for receiving the Constance E. Miller Award of Excellence for his contributions to mental health services in Genesee and Orleans Counties.

Why it matters

  1. Highlights the impact of expanding mental health access. Mark O’Brien’s initiatives to bring mental health services directly to schools and primary care offices demonstrate a model for reducing barriers to mental health care, especially for youth and underserved populations.

  2. Underscores the importance of specialized trauma support. O’Brien’s private practice, focusing on adult survivors of sexual abuse, emphasizes the role of specialized providers in community mental health and the need for trauma-informed care.

  3. Recognizes long-term, local leadership. By honoring O’Brien’s sustained commitment and leadership in both public and private sectors, the resolution draws attention to the positive, ongoing effects that dedicated professionals can have on the overall well-being of their communities.
