What's happening

This resolution honors Community Board 14 for receiving the Educational Leadership Award from Healthfirst on April 28, 2017.

Why it matters

  1. Recognizes the collective impact. By honoring Community Board 14 rather than an individual, the resolution underscores the importance of community-level collaboration and leadership in improving educational outcomes, demonstrating that systemic progress often relies on teamwork and local engagement.

  2. Highlights evolving definitions of educational leadership. The award, originally intended for Parent Coordinators, now includes a broader set of educational professionals and organizations, reflecting a growing understanding that educational success is shaped by a diverse array of contributors, not just traditional classroom roles.

  3. Emphasizes the role of educational advocacy in community well-being. The resolution ties the work of Community Board 14 to the overall quality of life and social fabric in New York, suggesting that educational leadership is foundational for thriving communities and future societal progress.

  4. Encourages public appreciation and support for education. By making this recognition part of the official legislative record, the resolution models state-level endorsement and encourages broader public appreciation of those working to advance education at the local level.
