What's happening

This resolution honors 911 dispatcher Courtney Starace with the Liberty Medal for her heroic actions saving a baby's life.

Why it matters

  1. Highlights the critical and often underappreciated role of 911 dispatchers. the resolution brings attention to the life-saving impact that dispatchers like Courtney Starace can have, reinforcing the vital importance of emergency communications professionals in public safety.

  2. Underscores the value of composure and expertise in crisis situations. by detailing how Starace calmly guided a frantic mother through infant CPR, the resolution illustrates the difference that professional training, quick thinking, and emotional steadiness can make during emergencies.

  3. Serves as a model of public recognition for everyday heroes. the formal commendation and public ceremony send a message that acts of heroism in public service, even outside of traditional first responder roles, are worthy of the highest honors and community gratitude.

  4. Promotes civic pride and the importance of community service. by honoring Starace’s dedication and background as both a dispatcher and EMT, the resolution encourages others to value and potentially pursue careers in emergency services, fostering a culture of service and preparedness.
