Why it matters

Recognizes the role of unions in expanding access to education. By noting Local 372’s scholarship program for members’ children, many of whom are first-generation college students, the resolution underscores how union initiatives can directly contribute to educational mobility and community advancement.
Affirms the importance of non-teaching school staff. The resolution brings attention to the often-overlooked contributions of support staff (like lunch workers and kitchen staff) in public schools, highlighting their impact on the school environment and student well-being.
