What's happening
This resolution commends The Addictions Care Center of Albany for hosting its 5th Annual Healing Hearts Breakfast in 2017.
Why it matters
Highlights the critical role of community-based addiction services. By commending the Addictions Care Center of Albany (ACCA), the resolution underscores how local organizations contribute to public health, family stability, and recovery outcomes for thousands in the region.
Draws attention to family-centered addiction treatment. The resolution specifically notes ACCA's focus on supporting families, not just individuals, which reflects a growing recognition that addiction impacts entire households and that family involvement is key to long-term recovery.
Acknowledges innovation and expansion in recovery services. By noting ACCA’s initiatives like the Women and Children’s Transitional Living residence and planned halfway house, the resolution brings awareness to ongoing efforts to address gaps in addiction support, especially for vulnerable populations.
Raises public awareness and reduces stigma. Official recognition from the legislature helps legitimize and destigmatize addiction treatment, potentially encouraging more individuals and families to seek help and fostering broader community support for such services.
