What's happening
This resolution honors Brian E. Towers on his retirement after 22 years as Supervisor of the Town of Wells.
Why it matters
Recognizes long-term local leadership. By highlighting Brian E. Towers’ 22 years as Town Supervisor, the resolution draws attention to the value and impact of stable, committed local governance on small communities.
Emphasizes unique municipal responsibility. Towers’ stewardship of the Sacandaga River dam and Hydroelectric plant—rare town-operated infrastructure in the Adirondack Park—illustrates how local leaders can manage complex projects usually handled at higher government levels.
Spotlights regional advocacy and broader influence. Through his presidency of the Adirondack Association of Towns and Villages and his role in passing Proposition 3, the resolution acknowledges how local officials can shape state-level policy, particularly for infrastructure and environmental issues.
Underscores dedication and public service standards. The mention of perfect attendance at 264 Town Board meetings highlights Towers’ personal commitment and sets a benchmark for civic responsibility, potentially inspiring other public servants.
