Honor Antonio Galarza Scholarship

Senate Resolution No. 3536 BY: Senator LARKIN HONORING Antonio Galarza upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2018 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the young adults of today and leaders of tomorrow whose character and achievements best exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Antonio Galarza upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the

2018 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.; and WHEREAS, This momentous occasion will be celebrated at the 20th Annual Tuition Assistance Awards Gala, "Celebrating A Twenty Year Legacy of Mentoring Excellence" on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Anthony's Pier 9, New Windsor, New York; and WHEREAS, An exceptional student-athlete at Newburgh Free Academy (NFA), Antonio Galarza is a member of the cross-country, baseball and crew teams; and WHEREAS, Antonio Galarza has not allowed juvenile diabetes to limit his life, but instead has used the challenge to increase his self-confidence; he has created "Living the Teenage Life of a Diabetic," a blog to help others overcome the fears and trials of living with this disease; and WHEREAS, After graduation, Antonio Galarza hopes to continue his education studying music therapy at Orange County Community College, and then Mount Saint Mary College; and WHEREAS, Throughout his high school career, Antonio Galarza has displayed exceptional academic achievement, a strong sense of community responsibility, and a commitment to excellence which is unparalleled; and WHEREAS, Antonio Galarza, in achieving this academic honor, may take just pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of excellence he brings to his family, friends, community and school; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to honor Antonio Galarza upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2018 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., and to extend best wishes for a future of purposeful success and well-being; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Antonio Galarza.
