Senate Resolution No. 365 BY: Senator LARKIN HONORING Jonathan Perez upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2017 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the young adults of today and leaders of tomorrow whose character and achievements best exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Jonathan Perez upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the

2017 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.; and WHEREAS, This momentous occasion will be celebrated at the 19th Annual Tuition Assistance Awards Gala on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Anthony's Pier 9, New Windsor, New York; and WHEREAS, A senior at Newburgh Free Academy (NFA), Jonathan Perez is a high-ranking student with a full roster of Advanced Placement (AP) and honors classes; and WHEREAS, In 2011, this esteemed young man received a Sojourner Truth Award for Perseverance from the State University of New York, and he is currently a delegate for the Puerto Rican/Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute in Albany; and WHEREAS, Jonathan Perez plans to attend SUNY Buffalo or SUNY Binghamton to study business with a minor in Japanese or Mandarin; he hopes to pursue a career in international business; and WHEREAS, Throughout his high school career, Jonathan Perez has displayed exceptional academic achievement, a strong sense of community responsibility, and a commitment to excellence which is unparalleled; and WHEREAS, Jonathan Perez, in achieving this academic honor, may take just pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of excellence he brings to his family, friends, community and school; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to honor Jonathan Perez upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2017 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., and to extend best wishes for a future of purposeful success and well-being; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Jonathan Perez.
