What's happening

This resolution honors Edward Neary for receiving the Third Age Achievement Award for Health and Human Services from the Senior Services of Albany.

Why it matters

  2. Underscores the value of lifelong community contribution. The award specifically recognizes achievements made after age 60, emphasizing that valuable contributions to society do not end with retirement but can continue—and even grow—in later life.

  3. Raises awareness for innovative programs aiding seniors. The resolution details Neary’s role in launching initiatives like the Warmth of Wine fundraiser and the development of new senior living facilities, showcasing models that other communities might replicate to address seniors’ needs.

  4. Promotes recognition of those supporting vulnerable populations. By inscribing Neary’s achievements in the legislative record, the resolution signals to the public and policymakers the importance of acknowledging and supporting those who work to improve the lives of older adults.
