What's happening

This resolution honors John Garigliano for receiving a Young Professionals Award from the Sullivan County Democrat for his community contributions.

Why it matters

  1. Recognizes the significant local economic impact. John Garigliano’s leadership of the Catskill Mountain Sugar House highlights the importance of small, family-run agricultural businesses in supporting the economy and rural employment in Sullivan County.

  2. Emphasizes the value of youth leadership and community role models. By honoring a young professional, the resolution underscores the state’s commitment to encouraging ambition, hard work, and service among the next generation of community leaders.

  3. Showcases the connection between education, local roots, and community contribution. Garigliano’s return to Sullivan County after college, and his investment in expanding a local business, illustrate the benefits of retaining educated young people in rural regions.

  4. Highlights the cultural and traditional significance of local industries. The acknowledgment of maple syrup production as a longstanding community activity draws attention to the role of traditional crafts and agriculture in maintaining regional identity.
