What's happening

This resolution congratulates Carol Ryan on her retirement after 44 years of public service to the Town and Village of New Hartford.

Why it matters

  1. Celebrates a rare example of lifelong local public service. The resolution highlights how Carol Ryan’s 44-year career provided stability and continuity for New Hartford's local government, benefiting the community’s institutional memory and effectiveness.

  2. Underscores the impact of behind-the-scenes roles. By recognizing her work as Village Clerk and Executive Secretary to six supervisors, the resolution brings attention to the importance of administrative positions that are critical to the smooth operation of local government, but often go unheralded.

  3. Acknowledges the value of community roots and family support. The resolution emphasizes her lifelong residency and the role of her family, reinforcing the idea that strong community ties and personal sacrifice are foundational to effective public service.

  4. Serves as a public affirmation of ethical standards. By commending her for “faithful, conscientious and valuable service,” the resolution reinforces the expectation and appreciation of integrity, commitment, and professionalism in public servants, potentially encouraging similar dedication in others.
