What's happening

This resolution commemorates the 25th anniversary of The PRASAD Project, recognizing its global humanitarian and community work.

Why it matters

  1. Highlights the importance of global and local humanitarian work. The resolution draws attention to The PRASAD Project’s impact, both internationally (notably in India and Mexico) and within New York, emphasizing the interconnectedness of community welfare efforts across borders.

  2. Showcases effective nonprofit standards. By referencing PRASAD’s recognition from entities like the United Nations, GuideStar, and GreatNonprofits, the resolution underscores standards of transparency, accountability, and operational excellence in charitable organizations.

  3. Underscores the role of spiritual and cultural leadership in philanthropy. The resolution traces PRASAD’s roots to Indian spiritual leaders, illustrating how faith-based values can inspire broad, sustained humanitarian initiatives.

  4. Brings attention to underserved health needs. By highlighting PRASAD’s dental and medical outreach in rural New York and abroad, the resolution spotlights ongoing gaps in healthcare access, and how nonprofits can help fill those critical needs.
