What's happening

This resolution commends Ronald T. Silverio on his retirement after 28 years leading the Evergreen Association of WNY, Inc.

Why it matters

  1. Highlights the impact of nonprofit leadership. The resolution draws attention to the transformative effect one dedicated leader can have on a regional health organization, showing how Ronald T. Silverio’s tenure expanded services, staffing, and facilities for vulnerable populations.

  2. Recognizes advances in community health care. Silverio’s leadership is credited with developing wrap-around services—integrating primary care, specialty care, housing, mental health, and harm reduction programs—which reflects a broader shift toward holistic, patient-centered care models.

  3. Underscores advocacy for marginalized groups. The text specifically notes Evergreen’s focus on serving at-risk, underserved, and LGBTQ communities, highlighting the importance of targeted health interventions and the role of advocacy in public health.

  4. Connects local leadership to statewide health policy. Silverio’s appointment to New York’s Ending the Epidemic Task Force and contributions to statewide HIV/AIDS strategy illustrate how local expertise can influence and shape broader public health initiatives and policies.
