What's happening
This bill adds Ulster County to the list of Hudson Valley counties eligible for community preservation funds in New York.
Why it matters
Expanding eligibility to Ulster County allows its towns and cities to access funding for land conservation, historic preservation, and related community projects. potentially leading to increased investment in parks, open space, and local heritage.
By including Ulster, the bill may drive regional collaboration on environmental protection and sustainable growth. , as more neighboring counties can coordinate efforts and share best practices for using preservation funds.
Ulster County communities could see increased local engagement and input on preservation priorities. , since access to these funds often requires public planning processes and referenda, giving residents a greater voice in shaping the future of their communities.
