What's happening
This bill allows the State Liquor Authority to add enforceable terms and conditions to on-premises alcohol licenses after consulting with applicants.
Why it matters
Empowers the State Liquor Authority (SLA) to set tailored, enforceable conditions on alcohol licenses. , which could address specific concerns about how bars, restaurants, and similar establishments operate—potentially improving oversight in cases where standard rules are insufficient.
Requires the SLA to consult with both license applicants and parties entitled to application notice. (such as local governments or community boards), making it more likely that community concerns and applicants’ operational realities will be considered before new conditions are imposed.
Makes these new license conditions as legally binding as state law or SLA regulations. , increasing the potential consequences for violations and giving the SLA stronger tools to enforce responsible business practices.
Applies to a wide range of on-premises alcohol licenses. (including bars, restaurants, and special venue permits), allowing for flexibility and responsiveness across diverse types of businesses and neighborhoods.
