What's happening
This bill directs certain video lottery revenue to be used only for capital upgrades at Aqueduct racetrack, removing Belmont Park and Saratoga from eligibility.
Why it matters
Concentrates funding for upgrades exclusively at Aqueduct racetrack. , which could lead to significant improvements there while potentially limiting modernization or maintenance at Belmont Park and Saratoga Race Course.
May impact the competitive balance among New York’s major racetracks. , as only Aqueduct would receive these specific video lottery revenues for capital projects, possibly affecting the quality of facilities and events at the other venues.
Could influence local economies and jobs. by shifting investment and construction activity to the Aqueduct area, potentially at the expense of communities around Belmont and Saratoga that previously benefited from these funds.
