What's happening
This bill requires passenger motor carriers to publicly post federal safety and performance information on their websites or at ticket locations.
Why it matters
Empowers consumers to make informed choices. by ensuring they can easily access up-to-date federal safety and performance records of passenger motor carriers before purchasing tickets, potentially influencing travel decisions based on safety history.
Increases public scrutiny and accountability. for bus and passenger transport companies, as regularly updated information on violations, inspections, and performance must be visible, potentially incentivizing improved safety practices.
Closes a transparency loophole. by requiring carriers without a website to post the same federal safety information at all physical ticket sale locations, preventing companies from avoiding disclosure through lack of online presence.
Mandates frequent updates (at least quarterly). to ensure information remains current, reducing the risk that outdated or misleading safety records are presented to the public.
