What's happening

This bill expands eligibility for health care facility transformation program funding to include assisted living programs and hospice providers.

Why it matters

  1. Broadens access to crucial transformation funds for long-term and end-of-life care providers. , potentially enabling modernization, expansion, or improvement of facilities serving aging and terminally ill populations.

  2. Addresses potential gaps in care infrastructure. by allowing assisted living programs and hospice providers to compete for capital grants, which were previously limited to hospitals, clinics, and certain other providers.

  3. May improve service delivery and patient outcomes. for vulnerable groups by supporting facility upgrades, technological improvements, or expanded capacity, especially as New York’s population continues to age.

  4. Could shift funding priorities within the transformation program. , as more provider types become eligible and compete for limited resources, possibly influencing which projects are prioritized or funded in future rounds.
