What's happening
This bill increases the Yonkers Parking Authority board from five to seven members and sets new terms for the additional members.
Why it matters
Expanding the board to seven members could improve representation and diversity of viewpoints. , potentially leading to more balanced decision-making for the Yonkers Parking Authority.
Staggered terms for the new members (expiring in 2020 and 2021) are designed to ensure continuity and avoid disrupting board operations. , rather than seating all new members at once.
Current members as of June 1, 2019, are explicitly allowed to serve out their existing terms. , which minimizes disruption and preserves institutional knowledge during the transition to a larger board.
A larger board may change how easily majorities are formed and could impact the pace or direction of policy decisions. , as more members must now reach agreement on authority actions.
