What's happening
This bill requires lobbyists to annually report all clients they advocated for before any state or local government entity.
Why it matters
Increases transparency around lobbying activities. by requiring annual disclosure of every client represented before any state or local government entity, making it easier for the public and watchdog groups to track who is influencing government decisions.
Covers both state and local levels of government. , meaning lobbyists must report advocacy not just at the state legislature, but also at city councils, county boards, and other local bodies—broadening the scope of accountability.
Includes specific, standardized reporting requirements. (names, addresses, and phone numbers for both lobbyists and clients), making data more consistent and accessible for oversight, media, and civic engagement.
May help deter undisclosed or shadow lobbying. , since lobbyists must publicly affirm all their clients each year, potentially reducing the risk of unreported influence and conflicts of interest in government decision-making.
