What's happening
This bill requires the Department of Economic Development to post detailed information online about programs assisting small, minority, and women-owned businesses.
Why it matters
Centralizes and streamlines access to business assistance. By requiring the Department of Economic Development to post comprehensive program information online, the bill makes it much easier for small, minority, and women-owned businesses to discover and compare available financial and technical assistance, saving them time and effort.
Promotes transparency and equity. Publicizing detailed application processes, program descriptions, and contact information helps level the playing field—especially for smaller or less-connected businesses that may not have been aware of all available resources.
Supports informed decision-making and planning. The inclusion of searchable features, application forms, and up-to-date census data allows businesses and advocates to make data-driven decisions, identify gaps in support, and tailor their strategies based on accurate demographic and economic information.
Encourages accountability and inter-agency collaboration. The requirement for consultation with the Urban Development Corporation and inclusion of both state and federal programs can foster better coordination and highlight where support is effective—or where improvements or new programs may be needed.
