AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to authorizing the use of monies by enforcement officers for tobacco enforcement activities related to enforcement of a local law which restricts the age of purchase for tobacco products up to the age of twenty-one years old
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:
Section 1. Subdivision 3 of section 1399-hh of the public health law, as added by chapter 433 of the laws of 1997, is amended to read as follows:
3. Monies made available to enforcement officers pursuant to this section shall only be used for local tobacco enforcement activities approved by the commissioner; provided, however, that monies may be used by enforcement officers for tobacco enforcement activities related to enforcement of a local law which restricts the age of purchase for tobacco products up to the age of twenty-one years old.
§ 2. This act shall take effect immediately. Effective immediately, the addition, amendment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implementation of this act on its effective date are authorized to be made on or before such date.
