What's happening

This bill makes the restricted dental faculty license provisions in New York permanent, removing the previous expiration date.

Why it matters

  1. Ensures ongoing access to restricted dental faculty licenses. for qualified individuals, which can help New York dental schools recruit and retain faculty who may not meet all regular licensing requirements but are otherwise highly qualified.

  2. Supports the stability and quality of dental education. by allowing institutions to plan long-term around faculty staffing, rather than facing uncertainty tied to the previous expiration date.

  3. May help address faculty shortages or diversity gaps. in dental schools by providing a pathway for experienced dentists, including those from other states or countries, to teach without needing a full New York dental license.
