Senate Resolution No. 2603 BY: Senator PARKER RECOGNIZING April 6-10, 2020, as Cancer Registrar Appreciation Week WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in recognizing its dedicated professionals; and WHEREAS, Cancer Registrars across the country will be recognized for their hard work and dedication during the week of April 6-10, 2020; this year's theme is "2020: Vision for the Future"; and WHEREAS, Cancer Registrars report cancer cases to the State central registries, and are responsible for analyzing the staging of this disease and reporting the first course of treatment; and WHEREAS, They continue their efforts with a life-long follow-up with each patient, documenting their treatment and survival; and WHEREAS, This information is used by the National Cancer Institute, the American Cancer Society, and researchers in the development of new treatments and finding the "clusters" which may be trouble spots within a state; and WHEREAS, There are 240 hospitals in New York State reporting over
