What's happening

This resolution honors Firefighter Jack Fulton for 50 years of dedicated service to the Trumansburg Volunteer Fire Company.

Why it matters

  1. Highlights the long-term impact of volunteerism. By recognizing Jack Fulton’s 50 years of service, the resolution underscores the vital role that dedicated volunteers play in sustaining essential community services like fire protection and emergency response.

  2. Showcases leadership and innovation. Fulton's development of the Apprentice Member Program, involvement in modernizing emergency systems (911 signs), and contributions to establishing a 24-7 paid EMS staff highlight how individual volunteers can drive lasting improvements in public safety infrastructure.

  3. Emphasizes the value of institutional knowledge. Fulton's tenure in multiple leadership roles and participation in organizational development (such as designing the firehouse and running fundraisers) demonstrates how long-serving members provide stability, mentorship, and continuity in volunteer organizations.

  4. Strengthens community identity and pride. Honoring a local hero in an official legislative resolution can inspire civic pride and encourage others to participate in community service, reinforcing the social fabric and resilience of small towns.
