Purpose
Establishes and implements a program whereby the Division of Military and Naval Affairs would pay the cost of postage to mail one package a month from the family of a resident of this state on active duty to such person on active duty.
Summary of provisions
Section one of this bill adds a new section 255 to the Military Law to provide for the mailing of packages to our soldiers.

Existing law
There is not any provision for this type of program under existing law.
Justification
Since the Gulf War and the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center members of the organized militia have been called to both federal and state active duty on a more regular basis. According to the Department of Defense, as of December 2018, the United States had approximately 190,000 troops deployed overseas. This bill will help ease some of the financial burdens associated with being deployed and helps families stay in contact with their loved ones in military service.
