What's happening
This bill extends Warren County's authority to impose an additional mortgage recording tax until December 1, 2020.
Why it matters
Continued Local Revenue. By extending Warren County’s authority to impose an additional mortgage recording tax, the bill ensures the county can keep collecting this revenue stream, potentially supporting local services, infrastructure, or budget needs.
Homebuyers and Lenders Impact. Homebuyers and mortgage lenders in Warren County will continue to pay this extra tax when recording mortgages, which could influence closing costs or the overall affordability of buying property in the area.
Local Government Flexibility. The extension demonstrates the state's willingness to allow local governments to tailor tax tools to their specific fiscal situations, rather than imposing a one-size-fits-all statewide policy.

Purpose
